Technical maintenance for bakeries
There’s more to a bakery than kneading dough and baking bread. Our customer Artiso knows all about that. They provide bakeries with technical maintenance for their complete production lines. “Before, it involved a lot of paperwork and manual searching, everything done by hand. But there had to be a more efficient way, right?” says Miguel Sanchez, technical indoor service employee. So they took action. Together, we took on the challenge of optimizing Artiso’s entire service process. What did it get them? Read on.
Artisan bread and industrial enterprises
From machine procurement and production line installation to maintenance: Artiso does it all. They have been operating as a service provider in the food industry for many years. “Our goal is to deliver the best taste experience to the consumer. We do this by optimizing processes within the (confectionery) bakery. In the past, our focus was mainly on artisan bakeries, but today we also serve industrial bakeries. Honesty, craftsmanship and pride are central to everything we do.”
Digitalization on the work floor
All of this with a team of 14 passionate experts. How do they manage it? “We invest heavily in digitalization. That way, we do more work in less time. It’s also the reason we now serve larger, industrial companies. Without automating our processes, that wouldn’t have been possible.”
To establish this digitalization at Artiso, they started using our software in 2015. “Before, we did everything on paper and had to manually retype the administration into our systems: work orders, technical drawings, you name it. It was completely inefficient. Sometimes a single work order took half a day. There was a lot of room for improvement. And now we’re making that improvement, with FieldBuddy. Since we started using their software, a work order takes us just half an hour.”
Automation: a range of benefits
A more efficient way of working isn’t the only benefit Artiso experiences from digitalization, says Miguel. “By centralizing information, every colleague has immediate access to all data. We not only work faster, but also more accurately and with fewer errors. Our administration also made a big leap forward, partly thanks to digitalizing invoicing.
Another major benefit is the automatic stock management. Before, things sometimes went wrong and inventory figures weren’t accurate. Very inconvenient, because stock is crucial in the service industry. The connection with our ERP partner AFAS is also essential. The software automatically processes work orders, invoicing and payments, and gives insight into the capacity and leave of our technicians.”

Saving time through digitalization
“So now we plan even more efficiently. Before, we were mainly focused on scheduling urgent jobs. Now we plan preventively, and sometimes even proactively. With FieldBuddy, we plan up to two months ahead. We can see busy periods coming in advance and respond proactively, for example by scheduling an extra freelance technician,” he explains.
Technical Team of the Year
An efficient, skilled team. And we’re not the only ones who recognize it. Artiso has been nominated as Technical Team of the Year this year. “We’re incredibly proud to be among the big players as a small team. It feels like a real recognition for our staff. But we never would have achieved this without investing so heavily in automation with FieldBuddy’s software.”
Ease of use comes first
Why did Artiso choose FieldBuddy? “The main reason was the connection with AFAS Profit and the ease of use. Our technicians use the FieldBuddy Go mobile app, so they always have their schedule at hand on their tablets. The planning is real-time, giving us insight into our technical team at any moment. Technicians can also instantly view all customer specifications, including photos of production lines and technical drawings.
And through the route optimization feature, we know which technician is closest to a job. That means they spend less time in the van and more time on the work floor, which is good for us and for our customers.”
A good partnership
“The partnership also runs extremely well. We’re kept up to date on new releases and updates. When we submit a ticket with a question, we have a clear answer within 24 hours. We can also look a lot up ourselves thanks to the clear how-to videos in the FieldBuddy knowledge base,” Miguel explains.
